Who are we?
Well, we’re four professional animators currently working in the animation industry. Having been inspired by Animation related podcasting ourselves, we sought out a chance to help give back to the same community that informs, inspires, and entertains us. Speaking of Animation was created to deliver even more engaging content. Come along with us as we interview our friends and fellow artists about their craft and thoughts on animation.
Ben Willis is an anomaly in the animation industry by having both amazing animation skills and a chest better then Matthew McConaughey. Ben studied at the prestigious Savannah School of Art and Design where he mostly focused on pottery. He then went on to New York City to work on a short rat. Ben currently works at a studio where he’s done a movie about animals fighting and another where they go mad.
Adam “live the dream” Strick is truly living the dream. His life is like a dream, a dream that he lives. Adams biggest fear is to one day wake from this dream and find out he’s slightly less awesome then he already is. Adam’s first sleep study was with animation mentor. He later got himself involved in an Avalanche before coming to his current studio that also has to do with dreaming. So Dream on Adam, Dream on, and keep living that…..that….oh never mind.
Jacob Gardner’s big break into animation was from a little known contest called fork, or fidge, or something like that. Anyway Jacob and his team kicked butt with a little animated short about trains and people, but mostly about trains. Jacob attended Bowling Green University who’s school colors are not green for some reason. Jacobs first feature involved aliens and monsters and he currently works at the studio that created them.
Stephen Melagrano is easily snuck up on. I know that doesn’t have much to do about animation but its true. You can literally walk right up next to him as he’s animating and he won’t even know you’re there…seriously this guys is going to get mugged or something. Stephen started his feature animation career by attending an online animation school that felt it was ok to mentor him. After that he interned at a studio with a bouncing lamp and then went on to another studio to work on a movie with an elephant listening to plants. He now works at the same studio as the rest of these guys and he’s never been happier.
