A bunch of very talented artists have decided to leave the movie industry behind and go after their dream of making a video game. A few of them are close friends to a few of us on SoA and we can attest to how passionate they are about making this dream a reality.

They are running a Kickstarter campaign and would love your support! Follow the link below to find out more and contribute to making this dream come true! Hurry though! There are only 5 days left!

Kickstart The Sketchbook: An Animated Short Film

No Gravatar

Animator Chris Williams has launched a kickstarter project for an animated short involving both 3D and hand drawn animation. The Sketchbook is an inspiring story about a 16 year-old enlisting in World War I to find his father.  It has a great story with a lot of heart.

Chris has worked in the industry for over 13 years on a number of feature films such as Spider Man, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Wreck It Ralph, and is currently in production on Peanuts at Blue Sky Studios.  Being able to finish a high level short film in a reasonable amount of time with experienced artists requires a hefty budget so Chris is very realistic about the dollar amount he is asking for.  He has a number of talented artists(including Iron Giant story artist Bill Frake) already tied to the project so hopefully they’ll be able to get this thing going.  If any of you are interested in donating a few bucks or even just sharing the page with friends, that would be great!

DreamWorks next film, Rise of the Guardians, opens in theaters today!  I have a few reasons why you should get out and go see this movie.  One, Jacob and Ben have worked really hard on this film, I wasn’t on it, but I can honestly say it’s easily some of their best work. TWO, WE INTERVIEWED PETER RAMSEY, THE DIRECTOR OF GUARDIANS FOR THE PODCAST!!!!  We’ll release that interview mid December to give everyone time to check out the film first.  And Three, we have some cool Rise of the Guardians swag to give-away, including a signed Art of Book.  We’ll do another fun give-away game sometime in the next few weeks.  So if you go see the movie, come back here and let us know what you think.  We love reading your comments!
